Amet is located at geographical coordinates of 25.3025°N and 73.9295°E with an average elevation of 575 meters or 1,886 feet above sea level. It is located 31 kms from Rajsamand and 304 kms from the state capital of Jaipur.

The city has a good road connectivity to different nearby cities with frequent buses plying on different routes. Sardargah and Charbhuja Road are the nearest railway stations however Udaipur junction is the nearest major station from here located at a distance of 94 km. Maharana Pratap airport is the nearest one from here located at a distance of 75 kms.

History and Culture of Amet

Amet is historically significant and was earlier known as Ambapur. Veer Patta used to be the king of Amet who fought against Mughals. The city exhibits the true Rajasthani culture. Hindi and Rajasthani are the local languages spoken here. The city celebrates many events and festivals round the year. The festival of Rangpanchmi is celebrated here with a lot of enthusiasm. Cattle fair during Navratri attracts people from nearby areas.  As per the census of 2011, city has a population of 17,335 and a literacy rate of 79.97% .

Tourism in Amet

Amet is home to many popular tourist destinations that are visited by thousands of people every year. Vevar Mahadev and the temple of Lord Jai Singh Shyam Ji are the most popular ones here. Also, there are many small and beautiful lakes here including Ranerao Lake, Salam Sagar and Pratap Sagar. The Amet Palace is another historical place to visit here. One can also visit the temples of Lord Shanker and Lord Hanumanji in Wadli wavli.There are also few hotels in and around the city to accommodate visitors traveling in this part of Rajasthan.
